Artist's Statement and Bio
Artist's Statement
My paintings are narratives, small stories about life. As metaphor, my paintings are life and the impressions left as evidence of our passage.
Throughout my life I have painted about my family. The rolling hills of Kentucky are sometimes represented in my drawings and paintings with the undulating rise and fall of repetitious line, value, or color.

There are times when the work takes on societal issues, religious/spiritual connotation, or elements based on memories.

Inspiration often comes from novels, a written passage, or a poem. An interest in mythology is another source.
Recent works are abstractions influenced by music, more specifically, blues and jazz. Layers of marks and color act as musical interpretation.
